SenateMonday 30 March 2026

QUESTIONS WITHOUT NOTICE

Senator WONG (South Australia—Minister for Foreign Affairs and Leader of the Government in the Senate) (14:48): Senator, I think I've just explained the policy technical problem to you. I've been upfront about that. I know, including with the Ukrainian community, you have raised this with me.

There isn't a system of assurance in terms of what happens after Russian oil may have gone to different refineries and the products which might then come out of it in whatever proportion, but what we have done is engage with industry and encourage them to be transparent and to assure their supply chains, as much as they are able, to avoid contributing to Mr Putin's war machine.

The PRESIDENT: Senator Babet, second supplementary?
