Mr VIOLI (Casey) (13:57): The hubris and arrogance of this prime minister is out of control. It was on display in question time yesterday, when the Prime Minister insulted every local councillor and every local council across the country, insulted them all. It was on display when the Prime Minister broke his word to the Australian people with this budget increasing taxes on all Australians. 'My word is my bond'—not with this prime minister!
It's on display with this flawed and deceptive consultation process for tech startups at the same time that they're ramming this legislation through the parliament in a dodgy deal with the Greens. In what world can you ram it through and say to the tech sector that you're consulting with them? What a disgrace—hubris and arrogance on display.
But I would warn the backbench. If you haven't read it, go read the Greek myth of Icarus. Hubris and arrogance can send you high, but guess what?
When you get close to the sun, the fall is very quick. We know what happens when the Australian people work you out, and the Australian people have worked this prime minister out. It is a prime minister that is prepared to lie to the Australian people to get what he wants, and he will get what he deserves.
