STATEMENTS BY MEMBERS

Ms MILLER-FROST (Boothby) (13:40): One of my local councils asked new citizens what they love best about Australia. They talked about beaches and great weather, our unique environment and safe communities, and they also talked about Australian values. They talked about being able to get a meaningful job with well-paid, secure, fair conditions—the promise that if you work hard, you can get ahead.

They value our industrial relations systems that means workers do get a fair go. Australian values are about fairness, and that's why this government is making the system fairer, giving more Australians more opportunities. Australian values are about having the opportunity to buy a place to call home, so this government is turbocharging housing supply and making owning a home more affordable for more Australians.

It's about accessible and affordable health care, the envy of the world, so we're boosting bulk-billing rates, funding urgent care clinics and making medicines cheaper. In Boothby, we're boosting health workforce training at Flinders uni and expanding Flinders Medical Centre. It's about good quality public education system so that everyone has the opportunity to better themselves and to make sure that their children also have better opportunities.

It's about earning more and keeping more of what you earn, so we've committed to five rounds of tax cuts. For too long, some Australians have been locked out from the opportunities that this great country offers. This government is committed to equity, a fair go for all, and making sure this Australian dream is within the grasp of all Australians.
