Mr CALDWELL (Fadden—Opposition Chief Whip) (13:51): I was scrolling through Facebook yesterday, and, helpfully, I saw a post from New South Wales Labor which was celebrating the anniversary of the election of Julia Gillard. Unfortunately, that post hasn't aged very well. Just fast forward two days to tomorrow, we have the anniversary of the knifing of the first female leader of this country.
I wonder if they'll do a post for that too? Probably not. But the theme here is betrayal.
That's what they do over here. They betray. They betray their own.
They did it in 2013, and they've done it time and time again to the Australian people. They did it on budget night, and they are now the highest taxing government Australia has ever seen. They said one thing before the election, and they did another thing afterwards.
Now, to top it off, they have done a dirty deal with the Greens to pass their toxic taxes on housing, savings and investment. I'm sorry, Deputy Speaker, I'm going to have to use that three letter word. I know you don't want us to use it.
I know they don't want us to use it. Here it is: tax. That's right; there's never enough of it from these guys.
Here he is here, the highest taxing Treasurer we've ever seen. It doesn't matter whether it's betraying their own by knifing their first female prime minister or betraying the Australian people. They want more of your money, and they shouldn't have it.
