STATEMENTS ON INDULGENCE
Mr TAYLOR (Hume—Leader of the Opposition) (15:10): I would like to associate the opposition with the words of the Prime Minister relating to the Socceroos. That extraordinary game on Friday showed the achievements of a great team defying the critics. They, I know, are incredibly proud to be representing Australia and wearing the Australian jersey.
It is always a great honour to do that, but this team in particular is doing us proud. I was lucky enough to have the chance to talk to the chairman of Football Australia, Anter Isaac, before the first game, and he said they would; he said they would achieve above and beyond what expectations were. Good on them for doing that.
I wish them luck with Egypt. It's another tough game, but I know they will serve us well as such a great team. To the Socceroos I say: fantastic, great work—well done!
