Ms CLUTTERHAM (Sturt) (16:19): Yesterday, I attended the changeover lunch for the Magill Sunrise Rotary Club in my electorate of Sturt. The lunch celebrated the incredible dedication of Pauline Hill, who served two consecutive terms as president, and welcomed Simon Benson as the new president for the forthcoming year. Pauline and Simon are examples of people who are just good human beings, devoting time and service not only to their local communities but to global causes, including in Ukraine through the New Dawn program, which is a massive humanitarian initiative run by the Ukrainian NGO New Dawn in partnership with Rotary clubs globally, and also in Zimbabwe, where work is being done to provide onsite accommodation to teachers in schools to make it easier for them as they strive to teach some of the most underprivileged children in the world.
Another good human being and one of my favourite people is Lindsay Davis, who was awarded Rotarian of the Year. Lindsay lives the motto 'service over self'. Not only a huge contributor to the Magill Sunrise Rotary Club, Lindsay is also involved in the Tranmere Bowling and Tennis Club as the treasurer, where he regularly makes professional and thought-out deputations to his local council.
Whether it's mental health, domestic violence, the environment or simply creating an environment where everyone is included and supported, Lindsay does it all. Congratulations, Lindsay.
