MATTERS OF PUBLIC IMPORTANCE

The DEPUTY PRESIDENT (15:43): Senator Scarr has submitted a proposal, under standing order 75, today. It is shown on at item 13 on today's Order of Business: The Albanese Government's decision to ram through a massive tax overhaul that imposes a so called "widow tax", higher taxes on some Australian small businesses, and damaging new taxes affecting investment, housing, charities and the broader Australian economy.

Is consideration of the proposal supported? More than the number of senators required by the standing orders having risen in their places— The DEPUTY PRESIDENT: With the concurrence of the Senate, the clerks will set the clock in line with the informal arrangements made by the whips.
