BUSINESS

Senator GALLAGHER (Australian Capital Territory—Minister for Finance, Minister for the Public Service, Minister for Women, Minister for Government Services and Manager of Government Business in the Senate) (15:28): I seek leave to move a motion relating to the consideration of a matter. Has it been circulated? The DEPUTY PRESIDENT: It is in line for you to explain the motion.

Senator GALLAGHER: The motion I would move is that business of the Senate order of the day No. 1 be called on immediately and debated for no more than 30 minutes, after which the question be put. Leave not granted. Senator GALLAGHER: Pursuant to contingent notice, I move: That so much of the standing orders be suspended as would prevent me from moving a motion to provide for the consideration of a matter, namely a motion to allow business of the Senate order of the day no. 1 to be called on immediately and be debated for no more than 30 minutes, after which the question be put.

And I move: That the question be now put. The DEPUTY PRESIDENT: The question is that the question be now put.
