Ms FERNANDO (Holt) (13:36): I will never miss an opportunity to recognise the incredible work of CFA volunteers across Holt. Victoria began this year facing the devastating Longwood and Harcourt bushfires. Dozens of volunteers from CFA brigades across Holt travelled hundreds of kilometres to fight these fires and support the communities impacted by them.

Since then, they have continued to serve our community, responding to house fires, attending roadside accidents and being there when their neighbours need them the most. That is why I am proud to visit CFA brigades across Holt to present the Holt Local Legend Award to volunteers who go above and beyond in the line of duty. I want to thank the local legends at Clyde, Pearcedale, Cranbourne, Warneet-Blind Bight, Hampton Park and Narre Warren CFAs for welcoming me and allowing me to recognise your service.

You do this work not for a paycheque but because you care about protecting your community. I look forward to visiting the remaining CFA stations over the next few months. To all the volunteers, from the bottom of my heart, I want to say thank you for your hard work and dedication to keeping our community safe.
