Mr HASTIE (Canning) (13:59): Labor have lost control of the economy, and they are smashing Australians with new taxes. Under Labor, there's a new tax on savings, a new tax on widows, a new tax on housing and a new tax on small business. Everywhere you look, there are new taxes.

Meanwhile, inflation remains high. The price of food, electricity, petrol, gas and healthcare premiums keeps going up. People can buy less with every dollar they earn, and people are earning less.

Real hourly wages have fallen by five per cent, and family budgets are stressed. Australia needs a plan to get out of this mess, and the coalition has a plan. It's very simple.

We will fix the economy, and we will protect our way of life. Under Angus Taylor, we will lower taxes. We will axe Labor's toxic taxes and let Australians keep more of their hard earned money.

We will bring on cheaper power. We will scrap net zero. We'll unlock coal, gas and uranium, and we'll turn Australia into an energy superpower.

We will cut migration and build more homes. We'll take back control of our borders. We'll cap migration based on housing numbers.

We'll deport people without a valid visa, and we'll make homeownership a reality for young Australians. Finally, we will put Australians first. We will build a strong Australia using profits from the gas and resources sector to build more ports, roads, power plants and water assets.
