Senator CASH (Western Australia—Leader of the Opposition in the Senate) (15:05): by leave—I advise the Senate that Senator Kovacic has been appointed Chief Opposition Whip in the Senate. I also take this opportunity to thank our former colleague, former senator Askew, for outstanding service as Chief Opposition Whip. Wendy was a deeply valued colleague and friend, and, on behalf of the coalition, I thank her for her enormous contribution that she made to our Senate team and this parliament.

We wish her well in her postsenatorial life. The PRESIDENT: Congratulations to Senator Kovacic, and I'm sure all of the chamber would endorse your comments about former senator Askew.
