QUESTIONS WITHOUT NOTICE

Senator McKENZIE (Victoria—Leader of the Nationals in the Senate) (14:43): On 30 June, the Prime Minister said he had received assurances from the then Premier of Victoria, Jacinta Allan, that Commonwealth funding was not reaching organised crime. Did the Prime Minister ask Geoffrey Watson about corruption on Commonwealth funded projects? If not, why not?

Or did the Prime Minister simply accept former premier Allan's word only for Labor's new premier, Ben Carroll, to conclude the allegations were so serious we needed a royal commission? (Time expired)
