Mr LAXALE (Bennelong) (13:38): For the last four weeks, the nation has been united by a viral song written by locals in my electorate of Bennelong. Since young Miles Phillips released 'Eastern Rosellas', it's been playing non-stop in all of our heads. I think this song went viral for a few reasons.

I think Australia loved seeing Miles's father, Joel, connect and thrive with his son, supporting him through their love of music. Many of us would have been touched by the focus on Australia's wondrous fauna. We are home to some of the most beautiful animals in the world, and the eastern rosella is just one of them.

With 'red, yellow, green and blue, colours so bright they'll shine for you,' this global recognition is highly deserved. And then the beat drops, and our nation collectively rejoices. For me, 'Eastern Rosellas' is more than a song.

It's a reminder of why we need to continue to work and protect our environment. To the very talented Miles: you've created an absolute banger that has taken the world by storm. I see the next stop as No. 1 on the triple j hottest 100 countdown.

While we may disagree on many things here, I would hope that this parliament unanimously backs my call to get Jack Black to cover the song, just as Miles would want. 'They're flying over my head now.' Thanks for the tune, Miles.
