STATEMENTS BY MEMBERS

Ms PRICE (Durack) (13:39): Australians are feeling poorer under the Albanese government. Many across the country are struggling to pay their mortgages, struggling with higher energy costs and struggling to put food on their families' tables. Yet, day in and day out, we are lectured to by those opposite about all of this cost-of-living 'help' that the Albanese government is giving to Australians.

Well, Australians are sick to death of hearing these party lines and promises, and so am I. What Australians want is real relief and practical solutions, because, at the moment, Australians are not feeling the help, just the pain, and the economic indicators back that up. We need less talk and real action, not just for the next year but for generations to come, which is what the next coalition government will give to all Australians.

I'm fighting for lower taxes through our tax-back guarantee, which is real generational tax reform; affordable and reliable energy by scrapping net zero, lifting the ban on nuclear energy and supporting a mix of energy sources; and lower migration and more housing by capping immigration levels at homes completed and overhauling our skilled migration program to bring in the skills that our businesses and industries need—just commonsense reforms.

I want to put Australians first and to pay down the trillion dollars of debt by cashing in on windfalls from our natural resources. Under a coalition government, Australians will see real action to fix our economy and protect our way of life—not just words.
