Mr GOSLING (Solomon) (13:41): I would like to recognise an extraordinary group of Australians whose generosity has preserved an important chapter of our nation's wartime history. The Real Operation Copper is a documentary film about a little-known but remarkable Australian special operations mission conducted by Australian commandos in Papua New Guinea during the Second World War.

It tells the story of the men who served with courage, ingenuity and sacrifice in defence of Australia. This production is particularly significant in not only the story it tells but the way in which it was made. The documentary was completed through the voluntary efforts of an extraordinary community of Australians ranging across veterans, actors, film professionals, businesspeople and other supporters and donors who believe this story deserves to be preserved.

Their contribution represents the very best of the Australian spirit—people working together to honour those who served and to ensure that future generations understand the sacrifices that helped secure our freedom. I recognise the leadership of John and Nataliya Schindler, of Mike McGuiness, of John Thurgar and of John Roxburgh together with the many volunteers, supporters and donors whose generosity made this film project possible.

I offer sincere thanks to every person who contributed to this remarkable project. Lest we forget.
