Mr LEESER (Berowra) (13:48): People in the Berowra community were already doing it tough, and then along came Anthony Albanese with his toxic taxes, which made things so much worse. The Financial Review has reported that Labor's toxic taxes have wiped 5.7 per cent of the value of homes in Berowra. That's an average of $114,000.

At the same time, there's no evidence of additional first home buyers in our community. That's the double whammy of Labor's bad policy, and unfortunately it's part of a much bigger problem. Under Labor, Australians are working harder but getting less for it.

Productivity is going backwards. Small businesses are dealing with more red tape and higher costs. Families are paying more tax, and Australian living standards have fallen.

Labor have made it harder to invest, harder to run a business and harder for families to get ahead.We need to get Australia moving again, and that means rewarding hard work, it means backing small business, it means encouraging investment and it means getting government out of the way. Australians shouldn't have to work harder and harder just to keep going backwards, but that's what they're doing under the Albanese Labor government.

Australians deserve a government that will help them get ahead. The DEPUTY SPEAKER ( Ms Claydon ): I'm just going to remind members not to use personal names in their speeches and to always refer to members in this House by their titles.
