Ms McKENZIE (Flinders) (13:51): This week we have once again observed a stubborn Prime Minister who consistently refuses to fess up when he has tripped up: 'It wasn't me. I didn't fall. No, it wasn't me.

I didn't offend the people of Japan by making a mockery of their honourable gift. It wasn't me. I didn't stuff up on a blokey podcast making a stupid joke about melons at the expense of the Japanese prime minister and confessing to a childhood crush on an Australian idol.' While the Prime Minister and his performing clown backbenchers fail to assume the task set to them, to muster the grace and honour due to the title of the Australian government, the coalition is getting on with the job.

We're getting on with the job of designing an Australian economy with rigour and accountability, building back aspiration, encouraging endeavour and sacrifice and respecting wealth where it results from hard work. On this side of the chamber we have a plan, and a detailed plan, to restore Australia's prosperity and standard of living—by first of all ridding Australia of Labor's toxic taxes; by guaranteeing lower power prices; by pursuing energy abundance so we don't see bailouts time after time for failing Australian industries as a result of the policies of the other side; by pegging migration to our infrastructure capacity, making sure, when we bring migrants in, we can provide homes for them; and by putting Australians first, investing in those who make a lifelong commitment to this country.
