CONSTITUENCY STATEMENTS

Mr TEHAN (Wannon—Manager of Opposition Business) (09:54): During the winter break, it was a great opportunity for me to get out and about in my electorate, visit some of the wonderful 300 communities that I have in my electorate and, in particular, head down the Great Ocean Road and see what was happening. I did one of my listening posts at Princetown. Princetown is a very small community on the Great Ocean Road, not far from the Twelve Apostles.

When I was there, I bumped into Ingrid out the front of the general store. There was activity in the general store, so I asked Ingrid what was going on, and she said, 'The general store is about to reopen.' It was absolutely fantastic to be able to do a social media post with her partner, Daniel. We put that on Facebook, Instagram and other social media platforms, as you do.

The Warrnambool Standard saw it, so they did a story on them. It was fantastic, because Princetown has seen two of its businesses closed, and to see the general store opening again is such fantastic news. I say to anyone who is travelling down the Great Ocean Road or anyone who lives in south-west Victoria, if you get the opportunity, pop into the Princetown general store.

You can have a coffee from 10 am onwards or—and I assume you might want to wait till midday for this—a frothy. You'll be able to have a beer or a wine. If you've had a really hard time—I'm not quite sure what the liquor licence hours are—you might even be able to have one at 10.

Who knows? Anyway, it is fantastic. They'll have all sorts of other food offerings.

If you need some things—if you've forgotten your milk or something—they'll have those as well. It's wonderful to see a small community, which has had a bit of a tough time because two of their businesses have closed, have one business reopening. There's further accommodation to come, and it is the most beautiful, magnificent spot.

It has a little bit of beach which is truly magnificent. And can I say to David Cossin, thank you for your email. David saw my social media post.

He had a couple of comments which were points very well made, but he also said that he'd been down there, and he'd tried the coffee. I think he might have even tried a beer. He said it was fantastic to see the general store open again.

If you can get to Princetown, make sure to have a coffee or a beer.
