STATEMENTS BY MEMBERS

Dr WEBSTER (Mallee) (13:57): I have one question for the Albanese government. Why do they hate farmers? I want to acknowledge the Minister for Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry and the really uphill battle that she's got with the Minister for Climate Change and Energy, who is busy destroying agriculture across this great nation.

Agriculture is the backbone of Australia's GDP, and they need the support that the climate change and energy minister is not giving them. What we have on the table now is productive farms becoming carbon sinks or hotels for very bad species, vile pests and diseases, vermin. We have lines, mines and turbines attacking our agricultural land, and our farmers have had enough.

There is no social licence. The Labor Party is completely ignoring the voices of the community, and across Mallee, my electorate, the voices are very loud. My urge is that the Prime Minister pay attention to those voices and get the balance right on energy.

I can tell you the Labor Party does not have that energy balance right.
