Crimes and Other Legislation Amendment (Omnibus No. 1) Bill 2026
Senator GREEN (Queensland—Assistant Minister for Tourism, Assistant Minister for Pacific Island Affairs and Assistant Minister for Northern Australia) (18:33): Thanks, Senator Shoebridge. For obvious reasons, I will keep my response pretty brief. I've answered the questions that Senator Shoebridge's questions go to.
We don't support the amendment that's been put forward by the Greens. The government intends to further consider the framework for powers and recommendations of the INSLM's review as part of comprehensive reforms that the government is committed to. This bill seeks to extend the sunsetting date to 4 September 2029 to allow those very comprehensive and significant reforms to take place.
