Crimes and Other Legislation Amendment (Omnibus No. 1) Bill 2026

Senator COLLINS (New South Wales—Deputy Opposition Whip in the Senate) (19:15): We've established that there is no transparency when it comes to when these new powers will be used to appoint parallel CDPPs, and you've pointed us towards Senate estimates in order to ask whether these new powers have been used to appoint the parallel CDPPs. If the CDPP uses, for example, a public interest immunity claim to reject questions about conflicts of interest at Senate estimates, will the public ever find out if the minister is using these powers?
