Senator KOVACIC (New South Wales) (15:44): At the request of Senator McKenzie, I move: That— (a) the Senate notes that: (i) on Wednesday, 12 August 2026, the Senate agreed to order for the production of documents no. 576, relating to land transport infrastructure projects, requiring the Minister representing the Minister for Infrastructure, Transport, Regional Development and Local Government to comply by 10 am on Tuesday, 18 August 2026, (ii) the order has not been complied with, and (iii) the minister has subsequently advised Senator McKenzie that additional time is required to comply with the order and that the requested documents would be provided to the Senate by Monday, 7 September 2026; and (b) if the order has not been complied with by the start of proceedings on Monday, 7 September 2026, the Minister representing the Minister for Infrastructure, Transport, Regional Development and Local Government be required to attend the Senate on Tuesday, 8 September 2026, immediately before government business is called on, to provide an explanation, of no more than 5 minutes, of the failure to comply with the order, and that: (i) any senator may move to take note of the explanation, and (ii) any such motion may be debated for no longer than 30 minutes and shall have precedence over all other business until determined, and senators may speak to the motion for not more than 5 minutes each.
