MATTERS OF URGENCY

The ACTING DEPUTY PRESIDENT ( Senator Sterle ) (16:03): Senator Cash has submitted a proposal, under standing order 75, today, which has been circulated and is shown on the Dynamic Red: That, in the opinion of the Senate, the following is a matter of urgency: The serious failure of judgement demonstrated by the Minister for Veterans' Affairs in initially declining to meet veterans and bereaved family members who came to Parliament House to raise urgent concerns about their health care, and the question of whether the minister retains the confidence of the veteran community he is entrusted to serve.

Is consideration of the proposal supported? More than the number of senators required by the standing orders having risen in their places— The ACTING DEPUTY PRESIDENT: With the concurrence of the Senate, the clerks will set the clock in line with the informal arrangements made by the whips.
