Interactive Gambling Amendment (Gambling Reform) Bill 2026, National Self-exclusion Register (Cost Recovery Levy) Amendment Bill 2026, Interactive Gambling (Cost Recovery Levy) Bill 2026
Senator CHISHOLM (Queensland—Assistant Minister for Regional Development, Assistant Minister for Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry, Assistant Minister for Resources and Deputy Manager of Government Business in the Senate) (18:41): The overall goal was to reduce advertising, and that's what this bill does. It does it across, as I mentioned before, a whole range of areas, including TV, advertising, radio and live sport.
There will be no ads, for instance, during play on Friday night football. There'll also be an ad ban on advertising on jerseys and on the naming of stadiums at the same time. I think, when you look at the whole of the package, it does deliver on that aim of ensuring that we are reducing the amount of advertising.
That is exactly what the bill does.
