Ms STANLEY (Werriwa—Government Whip) (13:52): Health, education opportunities, good roads and local services are the issues that most come up when I'm talking to constituents in my local area. I am really pleased to be able to report to the people of Werriwa and this parliament that the initiatives and commitments of the Albanese government are making a huge difference in the electorate of Werriwa.
The most recent Medicare bulk-billing rates for Werriwa show a staggering 98.3 per cent of consultations with a GP are bulk-billed. This is up 3 per cent since October 2023. 91 per cent of all medical practices in Werriwa are bulk-billing. In other words, in Werriwa there are a total of 32 Medicare bulk-billing practices, an increase of seven since Labor's initiatives.
The Austral Urgent Care Clinic, a 2025 commitment to the people of Werriwa, has seen 4,950 people since it opened just under six months ago. Labor's cheaper medicines policy has delivered savings of over $10 million to Werriwa, with the provision of more than of 1,692,000 cheaper scripts. Australia-wide, the cheaper medicines policy, capping prescriptions to the lowest it's been since 2004, has seen patient savings of approximately $2.8 billion.
This is the Albanese Labor government's policies working and delivering across the country, especially in Werriwa.
