CONSTITUENCY STATEMENTS
Mr HOGAN (Page—Deputy Manager of Opposition Business) (10:19): I'd like to acknowledge the life of Albert 'Albie' Maxwell OAM, from Woolgoolga. Albie was a true legend of the surf lifesaving community, dedicating more than 70 years of his life to lifesaving and surf boat rowing. Albie was still sweeping surf boats until he was 83 years old.
He began at the North Bondi Surf Life Saving Club before becoming a much-loved member of the Woolgoolga Surf Life Saving Club, where he was presented a life membership for his contributions to the club. For decades, Albie mentored generations of young rowers and lifesavers, and, earlier this year, Albie was awarded the Medal of the Order of Australia for his service to surf lifesaving—a wonderful recognition of a lifetime of service.
He leaves an incredible legacy within Woolgoolga and the surf lifesaving community across Australia. My condolences go to Albie's family. May he rest in peace.
I'd like to congratulate Liza Hamilton, the head of HSIE at Maclean High School, on receiving the prestigious 2026 New South Wales Secretary's Award for Excellent Service. Liza was one of only nine recipients across New South Wales to receive this award. It recognises her outstanding contribution to her students, Maclean High School and our wider community.
Throughout her career, Liza has consistently gone above and beyond for her students. She has created incredible opportunities for young people at Maclean High, including interstate and overseas experiences, on-country learning programs, cultural celebrations and community events. This award is a wonderful recognition of the time and commitment she has given to generations of students in our community.
We're incredibly fortunate to have passionate teachers like Liza working in our regional schools and giving young people opportunities to learn, grow and succeed. Congratulations, Liza, on this outstanding and very well-deserved achievement. I'd like to acknowledge and congratulate Ray and Helen Donovan, and their son Mitch and his wife Sophie, on the 30th anniversary of Donovan Livestock & Property in South Grafton.
Ray and Helen started the business in 1996. For 20 years, Ray and Helen worked alongside farmers, livestock producers and families across the Clarence Valley, conducting weekly livestock sales, store cattle sales, clearing sales, horse sales and selling real estate. In 2017, Mitch and Sophie purchased the business and are continuing it into its second generation of success.
The Donovan family's contribution of 30 years has gone well beyond business, with their ongoing support for local events and charities and the many friendships they've built through their involvement in our community. Congratulations to Ray, Helen, Mitch and Sophie on 30 years.
