STATEMENTS BY MEMBERS

Mr GEE (Calare) (16:06): Today. I pay tribute to my good friend, a legend of regional broadcasting and a true icon of the Central West, Mr Kerry Peck, better known as Pecky. For over six decades, Pecky has become the warm and unmistakeable voice of Bathurst.

Since first stepping into the studios of 2BS in 1969, he hasn't just delivered the news, the weather and the morning tunes; he has kept our community connected, informed and entertained. Whether it's hosting Brekky with Pecky, spearheading major local radio appeals for Daffodil Cottage or raising vital funds for flood and bushfire relief, Pecky's heart beats strongly for Bathurst and our region and always has.

Earlier this year, Pecky celebrated his milestone 80th birthday, a moment rightly marked by 2BS naming their main broadcasting studio in his honour. Over the weekend, his decades of tireless service received more extraordinary recognition. Pecky was named among the three inaugural inductees into the Carillon Business Hall of Fame, a richly deserved honour acknowledging Pecky's extraordinary contribution to local media, business and community life.

Pecky, on behalf of the parliament and the entire Central West, happy 80th birthday, congratulations on this historic Bathurst Business Chamber Hall of Fame induction and thank you for a lifetime dedicated to regional radio and our community. We salute you, Pecky, and we honour you today. We love your work.

Don't you go changing.
