STATEMENTS BY MEMBERS

Ms SPENDER (Wentworth) (16:09): I rise today to congratulate an outstanding leader from my community, Jodi Radmore, who is the commander of the Eastern Suburbs Police Area Command. Jodi was recently awarded the Bev Lawson Memorial Award for the Most Outstanding Female Leader at the 27th Australasian Council of Women in Policing Awards for Excellence in Policing.

This honour is so well-deserved. Jodi first joined the New South Wales police nearly 40 years ago. In a remarkable career that has taken her all over Sydney, she has demonstrated the values that define what it means to best serve the public: integrity, courage and unwavering commitment to the people in her care.

I'm sure there have been lots of wonderful memories for Jodi during that time, but it must be said that she has also been with my community at some of its darkest and most difficult times. She has not only led the community; she has led the service that has protected and supported us through these incredibly difficult times. In the last few years, I've witnessed firsthand her compassion and calm under pressure, supporting not just the community but the police officers in her team.

Wentworth is safer for having a leader like Jodi at the helm of our local police. Speaking personally, it's made a huge difference to work alongside Jodi through these tough times, knowing she's only a phone call away. Congratulations, Jodi, for this honour, and thank you sincerely for everything you do for the community.
