STATEMENTS BY MEMBERS

Dr TRISH COOK (Bullwinkel) (16:32): Today I'm delighted to inform the House that a new early childhood education centre will be co-located alongside Greenmount Primary School in the Shire of Mundaring in my electorate of Bullwinkel. It's part of a $5 million commitment to expand early childhood education and care services in that area. I was pleased to be joined by the Minister for Early Childhood Education, Senator the Hon.

Dr Jess Walsh, the state member for Midland Steve Catania, MLA, young mother of two, Stacey, and all the children at Greenmount Primary School, where we officially announced the project last week. I would also like to acknowledge the amazing principal of Greenmount Primary School, Natalie Astle, who does so much to support the local kids to get a great education and who has wholeheartedly welcomed this exciting project being located at her school.

The new centre will create 40 new early learning places and will help support children and families for generations to come, helping parents access affordable, high-quality early childhood education. Funded by the Albanese Labor government, built by the WA state Labor government and to be operated by a not-for-profit organisation, this centre is a testament to Labor governments working together to support families to thrive.

I'm incredibly proud that this is going to be delivered to help give children the best start in life across Bullwinkel. (Time expired)
