CONSTITUENCY STATEMENTS
Mr TEHAN (Wannon—Manager of Opposition Business) (17:20): Right across the wonderful electorate of Wannon, we've got football and netball finals taking place. Some have already taken place, and some will take place this weekend and the following weekend. Can I give a huge shout-out to every club, both football and netball clubs, that are participating in this year's finals, because it's a fantastic achievement by all of the players to make finals.
Not only that, but it's also a fantastic achievement for all the volunteers and the mums and dads who get behind the teams. When it comes to country football and country netball, it will never, ever be successful and continue to have success unless those wonderful volunteers are there on the gates, in the canteens, doing the running, the coaching, raising funds and just contributing any which way—you name it.
Everyone just does such a wonderful job. For those teams left: please, play hard, play fair and enjoy being in the finals, because it is a wonderful achievement. I want to give a shout-out to two small clubs who had recent success.
The first is the Branxholme Wallacedale reserves. They won the flag this year. They hadn't seen success in the finals for a very long time, so a huge shout-out to the ressies from Branxholme.
They've got a special spot in my heart. It's a wonderful small rural club which dates back to 1879. The second team I'd like to give a shout-out to is the Tyrendarra netballers, who won the A-grade flag this year.
Once again, it is a tiny football-netball club in my electorate which brings the community together. There were wonderful volunteers, and it was great to see the Tyrendarra netballers in the A-grade bring home the flag. I say again to everyone: well done.
There is a real issue in Wannon at the moment, and that is an issue which continues to grow. Sadly, it's the size of the potholes. They continue to get bigger and bigger and bigger.
No matter what the current Victorian state Labor government promises, it is too little, too late. The only way we are going to fix the potholes is to change the state Labor government in Victoria. The coalition has committed $5 billion to fix them.
We need them in power.
