Senator KOVACIC (New South Wales) (15:35): At the request of Senator Dean Smith, I move: (1) That the Senate notes that: (a) in accordance with Senate resolution 44, government responses to committee reports are required to be tabled within 3 months of a report being tabled; (b) the Foreign Affairs, Defence and Trade References Committee tabled its report on democracy and human rights in Myanmar on 31 March 2026; and (c) a government response has not been tabled even though it was due by 30 June 2026.

(2) That there be laid on the table by the Minister for Foreign Affairs, by no later than midday on Thursday, 17 September 2026, the outstanding government response to the report of the Foreign Affairs, Defence and Trade References Committee on democracy and human rights in Myanmar.
