QUESTIONS WITHOUT NOTICE
Senator PAYMAN (Western Australia—Australia's Voice Whip) (14:39): My question is to the Minister representing the Minister for Employment and Workplace Relations, Senator Watt. In June, the Senate Education and Employment References Committee tabled its report on wage theft, in which I, in my additional comments, recommended the consideration of the establishment of a small-claims jurisdiction, where underpayment matters could be heard more efficiently.
In July, the government announced that it would begin the work of establishing a fair work court to resolve workplace disputes more efficiently, including underpayments. Now, I congratulate the Albanese government for adopting my recommendation. What work has been done so far in terms of consulting with stakeholders on this proposal?
