Mr HAMILTON (Groom) (13:48): I was doorknocking through Centenary Heights just behind the Nell E Robinson Park. I came across a young mum and this little baby on a rocker asleep. We stepped outside and had a quiet chat, and I said, 'What would you like to change about Australia?' And she paused for a moment and said 'pretty much bloody everything'.

Those were her words. She was just disgusted with this government's approach to spending and the impact it was having on inflation. She had a young kid sitting there and she was thinking about the future of her child and how the cost of living is weighing down on every single decision that she's having to make in her life, be it the cost of food that continues to drive up and up or the cost of electricity that was promised by this prime minister to go down $275 and instead has risen by 40 per cent.

She thought about healthcare costs. Then we get to the big one: she was thinking about the day that she was going to have to drop her kid off at daycare and go back to work. All the promises that have been made by this government about reducing those costs—the truth still remains that she will be working just to pay to cover the cost of daycare as her kid goes back to school.

Australians are feeling the weight and the burden of this government's mismanagement of the economy. When she asks me what we're we going to do about it, it's easy to say, 'We have a plan; we have a tax-back guarantee that will cut your taxes year on year.' We will address net zero. We will get rid of it, and we will finally bring energy affordability back to Australians.
