CONSTITUENCY STATEMENTS
Mr NG (Menzies) (10:51): It's September, and Menzies has been well and truly captured by finals fever. Time may be against me as I try to fit in the spectacular results across all the sporting codes in our community. A huge congratulations to Surrey Park's Panthers men's seniors team on their third premiership in just four seasons.
They took out the EFNL division 2 grand final. Congratulations to the club president, Rohan Sutherland, and everyone at the club on this incredible result. Capping off an amazing fortnight, Surrey Park's netball team also won the division 2 premiership, with a commanding performance over Vermont.
Two weeks ago, Warrandyte's Bloods senior men's team took to the division 4 EFNL grand final, with the Bloods coming away with the premiership. Warrandyte FC had a huge day. It secured three premierships across the club.
Congratulations to the under-19s, reserves and seniors teams on an incredibly successful season. I also want to give a shout-out to the girls at Warrandyte Junior Football Club who came from behind to win the division 1 premiership by one point. There was a great result also from Warrandyte Netball's red team, who are the 2026 premiers in the EFNL division 6.
The senior women's netball team were unlucky in their final game of the season, but they should be incredibly proud of their performance. They made history with the club's first ever senior grand final appearance. A big congratulations to the Donvale Football Club on claiming the division 3 premiership in both the reserves and seniors teams, which capped off a fantastic year for the club, and a huge congratulations to Donvale's netballers who claimed the division 1 premiership with an exciting win over Coldstream.
It was the perfect end to an exciting season. A big congratulations to the Bulleen Templestowe Bullants under-19s and seniors teams on making it to their grand finals. It has been a fantastic season for the teams across the club, and I look forward to seeing your continued success next year.
Thank you to President Greg Chivers for his service as the club president this year, and congratulations to Dave and Andrew on their new roles as co-presidents for 2027. Box Hill United FC are a powerhouse club in Menzies. This year, their senior women's team are the NPLW premiers again, and I can't wait to see them finish their season in the grand final this weekend against Avondale FC.
Congratulations as well to their seniors men's team, who made it to the play-offs, and to all the teams who make up this mighty club. Doncaster Hockey Club had a fantastic season, with the men's pennant A team winning their grand final and defeating last year's premiers in a gusty four-to-two win. Congratulations also to the men's pennant E team and PL reserves, who were unlucky runners up in their grand finals.
Thanks to Callum, Andrea, Nick and everyone at the club for all your work this year.
