Mr TEHAN (Wannon—Manager of Opposition Business) (16:12): The front page of today's Herald Sun makes for very confronting reading: killer pothole outrage. A notorious stretch of the Western Highway has, sadly, led to the death of a motorcyclist. As it says in the Herald Sun, usually you wait for the investigations, but it seems so clear that this pothole has caused the death of this motorcyclist from Ballarat that it needs to be called out.

And it does need to be called out. There are two things that really need to be called out. One is that the Albanese Labor government cut funding to this road.

It used to be 80 per cent federal, 20 per cent state, and now it's fifty-fifty. That led to cuts in funding to this road. The second thing is the $15 billion of corruption that has gone into the Big Build that could have gone in to fixing Victorian roads—an utter disgrace.

If we're going to fix these issues and do these jobs properly, we need a change of government in Victoria—a fresh start—with $5 billion invested into roads. Then we've got to get rid of the Albanese Labor government and get the 80-20 funding mix back in so we can deal with these potholes before other people lose their lives.
