STATEMENTS BY MEMBERS

Mr LIM (Tangney) (16:16): A few months ago my first Australian neighbour, Uncle Bruce, passed away from mesothelioma. Many people took the time to share their own experiences of neighbours who were just like Uncle Bruce. Through those messages I also learned more about some of the incredible neighbours in Tangney.

We have neighbours who are helping to keep the community safe, who volunteer at sporting clubs and community organisations and who also give their time to make Tangney a better place to live. We have neighbours who check in on one another, who host pizza nights at the park, who bring in the bins or pop over with a cake exactly when you need it. Tangney's neighbours need to be celebrated.

In a world that can be so divided, let's celebrate what unites all of us. People of Tangney, please tell me about your neighbours. Write to me or share a photo.

I would like to invite your neighbour for a cup of coffee so that I can learn their story and how they have touched your heart. If you do not yet know your neighbour, please look over the fence and say hello to them. It is not too late.

We all can be— (Time expired)
