STATEMENTS BY MEMBERS

Mr VENNING (Grey) (16:18): It's been a super September of sport in Grey. On the weekend I join the Adelaide Plains league for the grand final at Long Plains, home of the mighty United Tigers. Congratulations to Two Wells for knocking out both the A and the B grade and, of course, Balaklava for taking out the A grade netball premierships.

But none of this happens without the volunteers who are there long before the first siren or bounce. Well done to everyone involved. Grey is home to two dozen football and netball leagues and countless other sporting associations—hockey, soccer bowls, golf, cricket, basketball; the list goes on.

Right across Grey, ovals and courts are packed, and clubs are playing for premierships. While the Adelaide Crows did not get the chocolates over the weekend, there have been plenty of successes in the local leagues in Grey with plenty more to come. I look forward to spending this weekend at my local league, the Yorke Peninsula at Paskeville.
