QUESTIONS WITHOUT NOTICE

Ms SHARKIE (Mayo) (14:26): My question is to the Minister for Aged Care and Seniors. In October 2022, SA hospitals reported 60 older patients waiting for residential aged care. That figure has now ballooned to 487 older patients in SA hospitals.

Australia needs 10,000 aged-care beds annually to meet demand. Last year, just 800 were added—net. Over 100,000 older Australians are waiting for approved Support at Home.

Nearly 5,000 have died waiting for a package. Minister, when will the government concede that, at every metric, they're failing at aged care?
