Dr SCAMPS (Mackellar) (13:35): I recently had the pleasure of celebrating our wonderful volunteers on the Northern Beaches of Sydney at the 2026 New South Wales Volunteer of the Year Awards. Now in their 20th year, the volunteer awards recognise the work of individuals and volunteer teams from a diverse range of organisations across the state. The Northern Beaches is lucky to have over 36,000 compassionate and passionate volunteers who dedicate their time to supporting our community, whether it's fostering connection, fighting fires, repairing toys, mentoring or saving lives on our beaches.
Our volunteers are the heart and soul of our community. Congratulations to all the Northern Beaches nominees and awardees, including Mel Kypri, the founder of Mowana Safe Space and the 2026 Northern Beaches Volunteer of the Year; Tilly Cooper, the Young Volunteer of the Year; Kerry Gleeson, the Adult Volunteer of the Year; SES commander Christian Young, Emergency Volunteer of the Year; and Warrior Woman Foundation Wise Women Mentors, the Volunteer Team of the Year.
Thank you all so much for your service, your compassion and your support for so many within our community.
