Ms McKENZIE (Flinders) (13:47): If hypocrisy were taxable, this Prime Minister would get the budget back into surplus in a flash. Under this Prime Minister, there are two sets of rules: the ones that apply to you and me; and the ones that apply to Prime Minister Albanese. Take housing.

The Prime Minister has bought up big and negative-geared a number of properties. Good on him! But it's now a choice he denies all other Australians.

Take health care. The Prime Minister tells you that Australians have never had a better friend in health care than his government. And yet, in my electorate, 33,500 older Australians will be facing hundreds of dollars more in their private health insurance costs.

Apparently, older Australians now need to make even greater sacrifices, but not Canberra, because every single minute another $50,000 is being added to the interest bill of this government! And what about when it comes to defence? The Prime Minister tells us that national security has never been more important in this country, and at the same time he wants to flog off a huge portion of HMAS Cerberus in my electorate, the cradle of the Navy, in Crib Point, where roughly 6,000 sailors and triservice personnel get their start in the ADF each year.

Our small businesses are constantly told to absorb yet another cost, another regulation, another hit, to their bottom line. More sacrifice for you, higher costs for you, more rules and red tape for you, and, all the while, the Prime Minister gaslights Australians, telling them they've never had it better.
