Mrs McINTOSH (Lindsay) (13:50): Happy International Day of Democracy! We have the best democracy in the whole world. In a democracy, Australians get to have a say.

Australians can forgive a government for making a mistake, but they will not forgive a prime minister who has one standard for himself and another for everyone else. That is about integrity. The Labor government promised transparency.

Labor promised a different kind of politics, a kinder kind of politics, so let's apply that standard. I think all politics start locally. In my community, Labor promised to fast-track a major infrastructure project called Dunheved Road.

In fact, the Minister for Infrastructure, Transport, Regional Development and Local Government came into my electorate and said that road would get done 'super fast'. It was promised in 2019. We are now in 2026, and that road—guess what?

It hasn't even started. It's not even on the cards in the near future. Labor promised noise insulation for families across Western Sydney underneath the new airport flight paths.

Three years later, how many completed installations have occurred? Guess how many—zero. There have been no installations of noise insulation for my electorate.

This is not complicated. If you demand transparency, be transparent. If you demand accountability, be accountable.

If you make a promise to the Australian people—whether it's lowering power bills by $275; saying that you only need a Medicare card, not your credit card when going to a doctor when it's very clear you need both; or whatever you're saying to the Australian people—tell the truth and have no double standards. Australians see right through it.
