QUESTIONS WITHOUT NOTICE
Mr VENNING (Grey) (14:00): My question is to the Prime Minister. In February last year, the Prime Minister came to Whyalla and promised workers that his government's $2.4 billion bailout package would provide certainty for the future of the steelworks. Yesterday, the blast furnace was permanently closed.
More than 600 jobs were lost, and after 19 months there is still no buyer. Prime Minister, why is Labor spending $150 million on luxury beachside climate talkfests for politicians, bureaucrats and activists in Fiji but only able to stump up $10 million for workers in Whyalla? Honourable members interjecting— The SPEAKER: Order!
The member for Hunter and the member for Perth will cease interjecting. Order, Member for Casey!
