QUESTIONS WITHOUT NOTICE

Senator WATT (Queensland—Minister for the Environment and Water) (14:45): Senator Bell, I realise you haven't been here that long, but this government has already reduced international student numbers, and my recollection of that is that it wasn't supported by all sides sitting over on that side of the chamber when our government reduced those international students.

Senator Henderson, I think, might have been the shadow minister at the time, and she had all sorts of good ideas about reducing international student numbers until it came to the time when she had to come in here and vote, and she voted against our efforts to reduce international student numbers. Senator Henderson: No, you haven't! They've gone up.

They haven't gone down. Senator WATT: Oh, here we go! I knew that would work.

He doesn't even know what he's talking about. The PRESIDENT: Senator Henderson, please resume your seat. You know very well that it is a debating point.

Senator WATT: Senator Henderson, if only you could see your colleagues' faces when you take points of order—it really is something to behold. As for One Nation, I've already made the point that One Nation's policy would have a terrible economic impact on the Australian economy. But the irony of this is that not only does One Nation want to stop skilled migrants coming into Australia; they also oppose training Australians by investing in free TAFE.

So they don't want Australians to fill jobs in hospitals, aged care, abattoirs and farms and they don't want migrants to. They want no-one to have a job, and they want the Australian economy to fall apart. (Time expired) The PRESIDENT: Senator Bell, second supplementary?
