Mr KATTER (Kennedy) (13:33): The cyclone and disaster assistance protocols 28 years ago were redrafted to extend the assistance to natural disasters. I put on record my thanks and appreciation for the great work by George Christensen in this area. I most certainly was standing with him at all times.

The cyclone reinsurance pool was introduced in 2022, tapping this $30 billion worth of money that was sitting there for a terrorism event, which has never occurred in 28 years or probably forever. The premium levels in North Queensland indicated that 25 per cent—that's a quarter—of all houses were uninsured, because premium levels were so high that you couldn't justify taking out insurance.

I put on record my extreme appreciation for Sure Insurance and one other insurance company as well, which put their rates down in light of the cyclone disaster assistance fund that now exists. The other insurance companies—Allianz was the other one—did not put— (Time expired)
