QUESTIONS WITHOUT NOTICE

Senator WONG (South Australia—Minister for Foreign Affairs and Leader of the Government in the Senate) (14:31): What I am saying to you—and this is what the government's view is—is that we should have more telling of the truth of our history. Different people will have different words to describe that, but we should have more truth-telling. You ask this question of me in a week when great disrespect has been shown to First Nations people.

If we as a country understood better our history, as painful as it is, then it might be that there would be more respect and understanding shown to our First Nations people.
