Ms CLUTTERHAM (Sturt) (13:37): In answer to the question of 'What is one big issue shaping your future, and what is a meaningful action you want parliament to take on it?' 10-year-old Aarush from my electorate of Sturt spoke about racism. These are Aarush's words: Racism is something that many people face every day. Discriminating someone for absurd reasons is not acceptable in our country.
This can hurt the feelings of other people and make them feel like they are not welcome in our country. This is something that ruins our country's reputation drastically. I am only ten, but I know how much worse racism will get in the future.
To make our country the greatest in the world we should find a way to end racism. I hope that by the next ten years Australia will eliminate racism for good. Racial equality is a must for the future years.
Our country is diverse and should remain so. You can all help, it is your moral responsibility to work on this. Treat everyone like your own family.
Many cultures follow this rule, ours should follow it as well. Hence, I strongly believe, eradicating racism from our country makes our schools, work environment, and public places safer, lovable and most enjoyable. Thank you for taking your time to read this.
Let's join our hands to make Australia the best in everything. Aarush, thank you for your wise words. On behalf of Aarush, I ask all members of this House and those from the other place to join hands to end racism.
