QUESTIONS WITHOUT NOTICE

Dr ALY (Cowan—Minister for Small Business, Minister for International Development and Minister for Multicultural Affairs) (14:50): I thank the member for Moncrieff for her question. As I mentioned in my last answer, this side of the House understands what small businesses are dealing with as prices and the cost of doing business increases, and as margins decrease.

On this side of the House, we actually get out there and talk to small businesses. I do as the Minister for Small Business, and I know my colleagues here are always out there, talking to small businesses, listening to their concerns, coming back to me and coming back to our cabinet with what more we can be doing to help small businesses. I'm proud of a government that has allocated so much in the budget to assist small businesses.

On the matter of the credit card surcharge, or the ban to the credit card surcharge, it was a decision that was made by the RBA. I became aware of it, as did everyone else, when the RBA made that decision and made it public.
