Universities Accord (Opening the Doors of Opportunity) Bill 2026
Senator O'SULLIVAN (Western Australia—Deputy Manager of Opposition Business in the Senate) (10:25): The coalition does not support these amendments, these second-best amendments. They do not do what the sector asks, which is to remove the centralisation of power from the hands of the minister entirely. Instead, they leave that power in place as it relates to medical places.
We do not think that that is necessary. This chamber should vote for a more superior amendment, which is either Senator David Pocock's amendment or ours, which essentially does the same thing. Question agreed to.
Senator O'SULLIVAN: by leave—in lieu of a division, I ask that our position be recorded.
