QUESTIONS WITHOUT NOTICE

Senator WONG (South Australia—Minister for Foreign Affairs and Leader of the Government in the Senate) (14:49): We do, and you should give it a go—putting the national interest first—because actually it is in our national interests, as a nation of our size, for the United Nations Charter and the prohibition against the territorial integrity of a country being compromised by a larger power to be held and to be observed.

That is in our interest. So it is in our national interest to take the position we have taken, just as it is also in our national interest to ensure that we enter the market in order to assure fuel and fertiliser supplies for Australians, Australian businesses and Australian agriculture. And that is what we have done.
