STATEMENTS BY MEMBERS

Ms CLUTTERHAM (Sturt) (13:44): Last Thursday I attended the beautiful grounds of the mighty Athelstone Football Club to participate in the 2026 Daniher's Drive. We all know legend Neale Daniher. Whether you're a Melbourne Demons supporter or not, an AFL supporter or not, you are probably a Daniher supporter, and rightly so.

Neale, together with his daughter Bec and wife, Jan, took up the fight against MND with courage and humour but most of all with effectiveness. Neil's family are doers. They don't just say they do.

Last Wednesday's event was a continuation of Neil's legacy. Fortunately, it was 28 degrees and sunny in Sturt that day, because I participated in the ice bucket relay challenge on the hapless Adelaide Crows team. Although we lost our heat, we were in high spirits, and I can report there's nothing like tipping a bucket of ice water over your own head to really wake up the senses.

To the Grigg family of the Athelstone Football Club, congratulations on the event. You led something that embodied community spirit and that will make a difference to others. That is true community service.

Bec and Jan, having watched you on AFL 360 for years, it was truly a privilege to meet both of you and to draw energy from the powerful determination you both bring and will continue to bring to fighting the beast. We can make a difference, whether it's listing tofersen on the PBS or funding medical research. Together, we can fight MND.
